The 5th Russian Transplant Games

The 5th Russian Transplant Games recently took place in St. Petersburg. They are the largest national sports competition for people who have received organ transplants, people receiving dialysis, and living related donors.

As in previous years, a large number of participants came from NephroMed’s network of dialysis centers across Russia. Many not only took part in the competitions but also won medals in various sports.

NephroMed has a long-standing partnership with NEFRO-LIGA, an interregional public organization supporting people with kidney disease. The company supports projects aimed at improving the quality of life for people with kidney conditions, promoting organ donation and transplantation, and encouraging physical activity among patients.

This year, NephroMed was one of the main partners of the Games, organized by NEFRO-LIGA as part of the “Transplant Sport 3.0: The Power of Community” project, with support from the Presidential Grants Fund.

It was especially meaningful to see NephroMed patients not only representing their regions but also coming together under the company’s banner. Teams from Zabaykalsky Krai and Kemerovo Region competed in sports uniforms featuring the company’s logo, highlighting their long-standing partnership and shared commitment to living an active and fulfilling life after a serious illness.

Over the five years since the Transplant Games began, they have become much more than a sporting event. They are a celebration of strength, mutual support, and determination. The Games bring together people who face serious challenges every day, yet continue to set new goals, take part in sports, and inspire others through their example.

For many participants, taking part in the Games is an important step towards returning to an active life. New connections, team spirit, sporting achievements, and the support of people who share similar experiences help participants believe in themselves and see that a diagnosis does not have to stand in the way of reaching new goals.
